This story about the soilder met his personality of country, France.
From the beginning, The grandfather told him that he met France since he was young. The soldier finally meet his country, France and he never changes like before. The Soldier asked him that how could possible he still alive in every century and France just smiled and said about kind the relationship( i don't know that part). Then the soldier told his wife about the man who was an immortal France he asked himself if he was an immortal, but his wife looked worried and she asked him that how do you feel if you are an immortal?
She tells him that he would be living in a different tempo than everyone else, with time flowing. That they would go to Paris for work, they'd live together, they would have children, and those children would grow up, her hands would get wrinkled and she wouldn't be able to hear his voice anymore, and then she would die. And even after her he would have to attend many other people's funerals. She asks him if a normal human could bare so much. And no matter how many people he would fall in love with, they would always leave him behind.
And finally, he didn't have a mortal body he wouldn't be able to pursue his dream: To be together, even once their hands are full of wrinkles. He pulls her into him and kisses the top of her head.
This part kind sad to me. Every country love human being, but love couldn't be possible and they felt lone. I felt sorry to France for being a terrible thing.
